Messi's sister postpones wedding after car crash

The sister of football icon Lionel Messi has been forced to postpone her upcoming wedding after sustaining serious injuries in a car crash in Miami.

Serious Injuries in Miami Collision

Maria Sol Messi, 32, was involved in a serious traffic accident where she lost control of her vehicle and collided with a wall. The incident, which occurred in Miami, left the clothing designer and entrepreneur with significant injuries. According to reports from Argentina, these include two fractured vertebrae, a fractured heel and wrist, as well as burns.

Argentinian TV journalist Angel de Brito relayed information from the Messi family, stating that Maria Sol is now 'out of danger' but faces a long road to recovery. "She suffered burns and burns are very difficult to treat as well as displacement of vertebrae," he explained on his programme LAM.

Wedding to Inter Miami Coach Postponed

The accident has led to the suspension of her highly anticipated wedding. Maria Sol was due to marry Julian 'Tuli' Arellano, a member of the coaching staff for Inter Miami's under-19 team, in her native city of Rosario, Argentina on January 3.

De Brito confirmed the news, saying, "I was checking things with the family because she was due to get married in Rosario in Argentina on January 3 and she's going to have to suspend it." The entire Messi family, including Lionel, were expected to attend the celebration.

Recovery and Family Background

Maria Sol has already begun her rehabilitation process in Rosario. Her mother, Celia Cuccittini, confirmed the details of the crash to Angel de Brito, explaining that her daughter had fainted while driving, leading to the collision.

While some initial reports suggested the burns may have been from a motorbike incident, this remains unconfirmed, with the prevailing account being a single-vehicle car crash. Maria Sol, who has largely stayed out of the limelight, previously worked at her brother's clothing brand, The Messi Store, and lived in Spain before returning to Argentina.

Her relationship mirrors that of her famous brother, as she and Julian Arellano met when they were young, growing up in the same neighbourhood in Rosario.
