Man Utd Urged to Hire 'Brilliant' Thomas Tuchel After Amorim Sacking
Man Utd Urged to Hire Thomas Tuchel After Amorim Sacking

Manchester United have been advised to make a sensational swoop for current England manager Thomas Tuchel in the wake of Ruben Amorim's sacking this week.

Amorim's Abrupt Exit at Old Trafford

Ruben Amorim was dismissed on Monday, bringing his troubled 14-month tenure at the helm to a close. The Portuguese manager's departure came less than a day after a remarkable press conference following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United. He leaves with the unfortunate distinction of having the worst win ratio of any permanent manager in the club's history.

Former midfield star and current Under-18s head coach Darren Fletcher is set to take temporary charge for Wednesday's match against Burnley. The club is actively seeking an interim manager to steer the team until the season's end, with reported approaches made to both Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. A permanent appointment is not expected until the summer.

Warnock's Bold Tuchel Recommendation

Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has now publicly urged the Red Devils to pursue a manager with a major 'personality'. He believes they should target Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea boss now in charge of the England national team, even suggesting Tuchel might be tempted to leave his post before the upcoming World Cup.

"I said if Amorim were to get sacked, I think Tuchel would go for the job and I got laughed at for saying that because it's a World Cup year," Warnock told Metro via NewBettingSites.uk. "I just think the day-to-day focus and Manchester United could pull him out of the job."

Warnock outlined a potential compromise, stating a pre-contract agreement for the summer could allow Tuchel to manage both the World Cup and take the United job next season. However, he speculated that if United presented an ultimatum, the allure of managing one of the world's biggest clubs might prove irresistible.

He praised Tuchel's credentials, saying: "I think he's exactly what United need. I think he's authoritative, I think he's got an edge to him, I think tactically he's brilliant. He can fall out with people but I think sometimes you need that at the football club if you do it in the right manner."

Why Maresca is Deemed a Risk

The recent availability of Enzo Maresca, following his exit from Chelsea, has also linked him to the vacancy. Despite winning the Conference League, Club World Cup, and securing a top-four finish during his 18 months at Stamford Bridge, Warnock expressed caution.

He pointed to Maresca's reported disagreements with senior officials at Chelsea, similar to Amorim's experience, as a red flag. "From United's point of view, do they want another volatile manager who sits at press conferences doing a similar thing? I'm not so sure they do," Warnock questioned.

He emphasised the critical nature of United's next appointment: "I think this will be arguably the biggest appointment in United's history because they've got to get this right. If they do not get this right again and the club don't change, it could be another 10 years before they start to get things right."

While Crystal Palace's Oliver Glasner, who is out of contract this summer, remains a bookmakers' favourite, Warnock's strong advocacy has placed the spotlight firmly on the prospect of a dramatic move for Thomas Tuchel as Manchester United begin another pivotal search for leadership.
