John Terry: Only Arsenal & Chelsea Can Win Premier League Title
John Terry's Premier League title verdict revealed

Terry's Title Verdict Shakes Up Premier League Narrative

Chelsea icon John Terry has delivered a bombshell assessment of the Premier League title race, declaring that only two clubs remain in genuine contention this season. The former England captain believes his former side represent the sole challengers to league leaders Arsenal following a dramatic weekend of fixtures that reshaped the championship battle.

North London Dominance Puts Gunners in Command

Arsenal established a formidable six-point advantage at the summit after delivering a stunning 4-1 victory over arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. The comprehensive derby triumph, powered by an Eberechi Eze hat-trick and Leandro Trossard's strike, has positioned Mikel Arteta's squad as clear favourites to finally secure their first league championship in over two decades.

Meanwhile, the traditional title challengers suffered significant setbacks. Defending champions Liverpool endured a shocking 3-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest, marking their sixth loss in seven league matches under manager Arne Slot. Manchester City also stumbled, with Pep Guardiola's side falling to a 2-1 away defeat against Newcastle United that leaves their title defence in serious jeopardy.

Chelsea Emerge as Unexpected Contenders

With Manchester City and Liverpool trailing by seven and eleven points respectively, Chelsea have unexpectedly emerged as Arsenal's closest pursuers. The Blues secured their third consecutive victory and clean sheet with a 2-0 away win against Burnley on Saturday, elevating them to second position in the table.

Enzo Maresca's squad now faces the ultimate test of their credentials when they host the league leaders at Stamford Bridge next weekend. Terry identified this encounter as potentially decisive in the championship narrative, though stopped short of labelling it a title decider.

'A big game at the weekend now as Arsenal come to the Bridge where it's going to be a very big game,' Terry stated in a TikTok video. 'I'm not saying it's going to be a title decider but I think it's going to be one of the two teams who win the league.'

The Chelsea legend was particularly dismissive of Liverpool's prospects, emphatically stating: 'For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look they're really struggling at the moment.'

Neville Remains Skeptical of Chelsea's Challenge

Despite Terry's optimism about his former club's title credentials, Gary Neville maintains significant doubts about Chelsea's staying power. The Sky Sports pundit predicted the West London club would ultimately fade from contention as the season progresses.

'They'll tease us and they'll get close but then they will drop points and maybe drop down to fifth or sixth and then come up to fourth,' Neville explained. 'That's where we'll see them move between sixth and second and third and that where we'll see Chelsea operate in the season.'

Neville acknowledged Chelsea's progress but believes they remain some distance from genuine title contenders: 'They're a good team with a good squad and should be with the investment they've made and I think they will finish in the top four. They will get close and they'll tease us and have us thinking are they the closest challengers but I don't think that will emerge as the season goes on.'

The stage is now set for a potentially defining encounter at Stamford Bridge, where Chelsea have the opportunity to validate Terry's bold prediction and seriously disrupt Arsenal's title charge.
