Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown) showcased her dark side in tonight's episode of Coronation Street after suffering a setback earlier this week, with Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) becoming the latest victim of her manipulative behavior. After tricking Daniel into telling his family he had returned from his so-called trip, Jodie found herself on the back foot when he asked her to move out so that he and Bertie could resume their normal routine.
Daniel Faces Online Abuse
In the days that followed, Daniel has been subjected to online abuse from anonymous accounts, severely impacting his mental well-being. Initially, he suspected his ex-girlfriend and predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon) was behind the trolling after learning she had been released on bail. However, tonight he confided in Jodie that he doubted Megan would risk putting herself back in the spotlight. He also noted how personal some of the posts were, leading him to believe the perpetrator might be someone closer to home.
Jodie's Manipulation
Jodie quickly suggested another suspect, pointing out that David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) had been staring at them. When Jodie excused herself from the table, Daniel overheard David and Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) laughing at something on David's phone, just as another abusive post appeared on his feed. Seeing that the post was about him and Max Turner, Daniel immediately assumed David was responsible and confronted him. However, David proved his innocence, leaving Daniel embarrassed.
Later, Daniel opened up to Jodie about how the posts were affecting him, and she encouraged him to stop trying to identify the anonymous account for his own sake. She then made a bold move by offering to postpone her flat hunting to stay and help Daniel with Bertie while he dealt with the stress. When Daniel agreed, it became clear that Jodie had regained control and that this had been her plan all along, as it was revealed that she had been the one posting the online abuse.
