Joao Pedro's Agent in London for Barcelona Transfer Talks Ahead of FA Cup Final
Joao Pedro's Agent in London for Barcelona Talks

Joao Pedro's agent has arrived in London for talks with Chelsea as Barcelona push to sign the Brazil international this summer. The former Brighton star has emerged as a top target for the Spanish champions, who are seeking a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona's Striker Search

Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez was initially Barcelona's preferred choice, with Arsenal also interested. However, Paris Saint-Germain have entered the race for the Argentina international, prompting Barcelona to shift focus to Pedro.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a superb debut season at Chelsea, scoring 20 goals following his £60 million move last summer. Despite his success, reports in Spain claim Pedro would be open to a move to Camp Nou, with Chelsea reportedly demanding at least €100 million.

Agent's London Visit

Barcelona made contact with Pedro last month, and according to Mundo Deportivo, the striker's agent arrived in London on Friday—the eve of Chelsea's FA Cup final against Manchester City. While in town to watch the final at Wembley, the agent intends to meet Chelsea officials to discuss the club's plans for Pedro. He also plans to meet Barcelona sporting director Deco in the coming days to explore a potential transfer.

Chelsea's Season and Future

Chelsea can salvage their season by winning the FA Cup this afternoon. The club is also closing in on appointing Xabi Alonso as their new head coach. However, the absence of European football could be a concern, with pundit Jamie Carragher suggesting key players may seek moves.

"Chelsea were always winning, they were always in finals and collecting trophies," Carragher told The Overlap. "Now it's about building… building for what? This generation of fans expect to win. They are not into this building for the future. I can't believe the Enzo Fernandez stuff. I think Chelsea have got five or six really brilliant players, really good. Reece James, Moises Caicedo, Fernandez, Cole Palmer, Pedro up front. But eventually they will go, 'what the f**k is this, I should be playing for a team going for the Champions League'. You can't keep building."

Other Transfer News

In related news, Chelsea have reportedly made a shock transfer decision that could help seal the Xabi Alonso deal. Meanwhile, Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo has revealed how close he came to a £70 million Chelsea transfer.
