Gary Neville has identified Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson, and Ezri Konsa as three 'realistic' signings he would like to see Manchester United make during the summer transfer window. The former United right-back also shared his 'dream' targets: Marquinhos, Declan Rice, and Harry Kane.
United's Summer Priorities
Manchester United focused on bolstering their attack last summer, bringing in Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko for a combined £200 million. Goalkeeper Senne Lammens also arrived from Royal Antwerp for £18 million, proving a bargain after a promising debut season. Despite the successful recruitment, central midfield has been identified as the priority for the 2026/27 campaign.
England duo Adam Wharton and Anderson remain targets, with Neville particularly impressed by Anderson's form at Nottingham Forest. He also supports a move for Newcastle's Tonali, whom Rio Ferdinand recently named as his first-choice target.
Neville's Ideal Targets
Speaking to Sky Sports, Neville said: 'If you said three, I'd want two midfield players and a centre-half. They dealt with the wide areas last summer. Amad, Mbeumo, Cunha, Mount can play there. I'm okay with that. No.10s with Mount and Bruno Fernandes – Bruno plays every week, reliable. It's two central midfield players and definitely a centre-half.'
He added: 'Dream world: Marquinhos, Rice, and Kane. Realistic: Tonali, Anderson, and Konsa.'
Title Challenge Next Season?
Neville believes United can challenge for the Premier League title next season, citing uncertainty at Manchester City with Pep Guardiola's future and the 115 charges. 'Why not? Liverpool aren't ahead, neither are Chelsea or Aston Villa. United haven't had Champions League or cup competitions this season, so a massive advantage. It will come down to how Arsenal deals with winning or losing the league. If City get a points deduction or Guardiola leaves, United are in with a right chance.'
United face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, aiming to go six points clear of their rivals after back-to-back wins over Chelsea and Brentford.
