Devastating crash claims four lives
Abubacarr Camarra, a 36-year-old football coach, his wife Isa Jaiteh, 30, and their 11-month-old daughter Aisha were killed when their red Hyundai left the A38 near Derby on Saturday night. An 18-year-old relative also died in the crash. The family was returning home to Leeds from a youth football tournament in Birmingham.
Community champion remembered
Mr Camarra, known as Abu, was a prominent member of the Gambian community in Leeds and a dedicated youth football coach. Friend Karl Jabang said: 'Abu was a devoted Muslim and committed community servant who inspired many young Gambian men to engage in community development, promoting unity, compassion, and positive change.' He added that Abu used football to mentor children aged 7 to 9, teaching discipline, respect, and teamwork to steer them away from knife crime and drugs.
Driver arrested
A 33-year-old man, the driver of the car, survived with serious injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He has been bailed. All five individuals were from Leeds. Abu leaves behind two other children, who are now in the care of their grandparents.
