Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus has broken his silence regarding his future at the club, amidst growing speculation of a potential January transfer away from the Emirates Stadium.
Jesus Contemplates Next Move
The Brazilian international has not featured for Mikel Arteta's side since suffering a serious ACL injury in January, with his anticipated return to first-team action now scheduled for December. However, his path back to regular football appears complicated following the summer arrival of striker Viktor Gyokeres, which has pushed Jesus further down the pecking order.
With Kai Havertz and new signing Mikel Merino also available to lead the line, competition for places is fierce. This situation has prompted transfer links with Premier League rivals Everton and West Ham United, as Jesus is keen to secure playing time ahead of next summer's World Cup to ensure his place in the Brazil squad.
Despite this, reports suggest that manager Mikel Arteta is reluctant to sanction the striker's departure, valuing the strength in depth he provides. Jesus's current contract with Arsenal runs until 2027.
Long-Term Ambition Revealed
Speaking about his career trajectory, Jesus made his long-term intentions clear, while also dismissing recent speculation. Via the Daily Mail, he stated: "I've never had contact with another club, and my desire, as I say, is to return to Palmeiras, and Palmeiras' desire is for me to return to Palmeiras."
He emphasised that any decision would be made in conjunction with Arsenal, adding: "When I feel it's time to return to Palmeiras, I'll decide that with Arsenal, but we're talking about a player who's been out for nine months and is now fighting to get back into the team."
Jesus is a product of the Palmeiras academy and spent two seasons in their first team before his move to Manchester City. Since joining Arsenal in 2022, he has scored 26 goals in 96 appearances.
Arsenal Teenager Eyed for England Fast-Track
In other news from North London, Arsenal's teenage sensation Max Dowman could be in line for a rapid promotion through the England youth setup. The 15-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable breakthrough campaign, becoming the second-youngest Premier League player ever upon his debut and subsequently breaking the age record in the Champions League.
England Under-21 head coach Lee Carsley has acknowledged Dowman's exceptional progress, hinting that the talented youngster could be fast-tracked. Carsley said: "He's a player that we're monitoring. Sometimes that talent, we have to accelerate it so quickly because of the challenge they are getting at their clubs."
He stressed the importance of managing his development carefully, adding: "It's important that we keep in mind how young Max is and we are fully aware of him. We get all of the feedback from the camps that he plays on and there is definitely time. He'll definitely get his chance within the Under-21s."
