Caleb Milligan (William Ash) has made no secret of his loathing for Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) in Emmerdale, following Joe's removal of his kidney and recent interference in his counterfeit business. Now, Caleb aims to inflict maximum damage by targeting Joe's relationship with Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley).
Caleb's Revenge Plot Unfolds
Actor William Ash reveals to Metro that Caleb realises he cannot kill Joe but can ruin his life, so he targets Joe's relationship with Dawn. Caleb had taken innocent Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) under his wing, involving him as a driver in the counterfeit goods scheme. However, Ash confirms Billy is 'collateral damage' in Caleb's pursuit of Joe, indicating Billy will be the first to suffer.
After learning Billy was hit over the head by Kev in the depot, Caleb and Ruby hid evidence to incriminate Joe. Dawn fully believed them, as did Billy. Caleb has been helping Billy plot an escape, offering to secure passports for Billy, Dawn, and the children to leave permanently. But Caleb holds the power and refuses to hand over the passports at the crucial moment, planning to do so on Joe's wedding day when Joe is most vulnerable.
Joe's Wedding Day Carnage
As Joe tries to wind Caleb up by rescinding his wedding invite, Caleb decides to shatter Joe's life early. He gleefully tells Joe that Dawn has left with his baby and stepchildren for a new life far away. Meanwhile, Dawn attempts a desperate escape but is thwarted by Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough). Graham questions how Billy could be sure of who hit him when he was hit from behind, leaving Dawn with doubts. She knocks out Graham and makes a bid for freedom, but it remains unclear if Joe will catch her.
Uncertain Outcomes and Future Twists
Actor Ned Porteous hints to Metro that Joe may be prepared for this outcome and has a plan. 'Do we even know that Joe is privy to what’s going on?' Ned shares. 'That’s the main part of it. Is he planning some horrible revenge story which is going to take over? Is he completely clueless to what’s going on?' The escape plan may end in tragedy, but whose tragedy remains unknown as the storyline continues.
