Emmerdale's Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle are on the warpath after a second arson attack strikes the farm. Following a deliberate fire at Emmerdale Farm, Moira Dingle initially believed she was the target. However, the latest blaze, which occurred near the feed store, confirms the firestarter is after someone else.
Robert acquired the farm after Joe Tate blackmailed him into framing Moira for human trafficking, then bought the property when Moira was vulnerable. Now someone is unhappy with Robert running the place. The first barn fire was thought to be aimed at Moira, but when a second barn goes up in her absence, suspicion shifts to Robert or even Joe.
Robert and Aaron, played by Ryan Hawley and Danny Miller, discover the new fire and realize it could have caused massive damage if not caught in time. Enraged, they vow to find the culprit and make them pay. Speculation runs rampant as to who is behind the attacks. Initially, Joe was the prime suspect, but that theory no longer fits.
Aaron, perplexed, considers other possibilities. Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) arrives for work looking tired and disheveled, and Aaron confronts him, arguing he is not pulling his weight. Could Kammy have a grudge? Meanwhile, Ross Barton (Michael Parr) and Sam Dingle (James Hooton) secretly scope out a barn. Ross suggests a cover story and hands Sam a lighter, raising questions about their involvement.
Aaron and Robert arrive just as Sam makes a quick getaway, leaving Ross to be discovered. Ross claims he was looking for the arsonist himself, and surprisingly, he is believed. Ross pushes his cover story further, suggesting Robert pay him to continue investigating. It is a bold and novel move.
But either Ross is dodgy or incompetent, as another fire soon erupts. This confirms a serial arsonist is at work. Ross floats a chilling idea: perhaps Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill), Robert's ex-husband, is back for revenge. However, Aaron is convinced they have overlooked someone: Kammy. No one really knows him.
The list of suspects has grown, and Robert and Aaron gain new suspicion when they follow Ross and Sam into a barn. Which one is the firestarter, and why? The mystery deepens as the couple fights back against the unseen threat.
