EastEnders legend returns amid Denise cancer ordeal

EastEnders fans can expect an emotional reunion next week as Patrick Trueman (Rudolph Walker) returns to Walford amid Denise Fox's (Diane Parish) cancer battle. Patrick left the Square in May to spend time with his grandchildren in Scotland after their father Anthony Trueman's death. During his absence, Denise was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukaemia and spent four weeks in isolation undergoing intensive chemotherapy.

Denise's health struggles continue

After a break in treatment, Denise revealed that the first round of chemotherapy had not worked as well as doctors hoped. She has also been dealing with the emotional loss of a fellow blood cancer patient she had grown close to. Meanwhile, tensions are high between Denise and her daughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams), as Denise is furious that Chelsea has allowed the grandmother of her murderous ex Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith) into her son Jordan's life.

Patrick's return and family reconciliation

When Patrick finally returns home next week, he and Denise are overcome with emotion to see each other again, especially given the circumstances. However, Patrick immediately picks up on the bad vibes between Denise and Chelsea and sets about smoothing things over between them. Unfortunately, it looks like Denise was right to be wary of Gray's gran, Shelia Atkins (Sheila Ruskins). She has been in secret cahoots with the serial killer since arriving in Walford, and next week, Gray puts a sinister plan into action from behind bars, which could place many people in danger.
