In Monday's (July 2) episode of EastEnders, master manipulator Bea Pollard (Ronni Ancona) staged her own murder and framed Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick) for the crime in a desperate bid to maintain control. The episode, available now on BBC iPlayer and airing at 7:30pm on BBC One, saw Bea's obsessive plan unravel as Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) finally saw her true colors.
Bea's Obsession and Manipulation
Bea had become fixated on Honey, deliberately driving a wedge between her and husband Billy. Last month, she set Billy up on a dating app and claimed he tried to sleep with her, leading Honey to believe her new friend over her husband and kick him out. However, Billy's son Will (Freddie Phillips) was convinced of his father's innocence and teamed up with him to expose Bea.
Others, including Linda Carter (Kellie Bright), Elaine Peacock (Harriet Thorpe), and Nicola Mitchell (Laura Doddington), also pleaded with Honey to see Bea's true nature. Honey's awakening came when Bea insisted on a cleaning ritual to rid Billy from her life, burning his prized possessions. When Honey resisted, Bea's mask slipped. Later, Honey discovered crochet dolls Bea had made, one with a missing head, leaving her shaken.
The Truth About Bea's Past
Honey sought advice from Nicola, who encouraged her to talk to Billy. He reiterated his innocence and revealed he had found an old housemate of Bea's named Ruth. Honey met with Ruth, who shared a chilling story: she and Bea had been best friends until Bea tried to get rid of her husband. Ruth believed Bea pushed him down the stairs when he supposedly 'fell', and later burned down their home, killing their dog.
Back on the Square, Billy confronted Bea about Honey's meeting with Ruth. An altercation ensued, and Bea fell onto broken glass, hurting her hand. She screamed, berating him for cheating on Honey previously, before bursting into tears.
The Staged Murder
Later, Bea destroyed the living area, splattered red food substance on the fridge to mimic blood, and called the police. With a convincing performance, she claimed Billy was attacking her. When police arrived, they informed Honey and Nicola that Billy was wanted in connection to the call. Horrified, Honey tracked Billy down at the boxing gym, told him about Ruth, and revealed that Bea had set him up for her 'murder'.
