Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Arsenal star Ethan Nwaneri this summer, after their pursuit of Jadon Sancho has cooled. The 19-year-old Nwaneri spent the second half of the season on loan at Marseille in France, having failed to start a single Premier League game under Mikel Arteta.
Difficult Season for Nwaneri
Despite a bright start, Nwaneri's loan spell in Ligue 1 has come to an underwhelming end, capping a difficult 2025-26 campaign. The Hale End academy graduate has been named among the small group of players who could be sold if the right offer comes in, as Arsenal plot another big summer of transfers.
Contract and Interest
Nwaneri signed a new contract at the Emirates last August, ending Chelsea's ambitious efforts to tempt him across London to Stamford Bridge. Dortmund were also interested at the time, and Sky Germany now claims he is once again under discussion at Signal Iduna Park. The German giants are eager to sign a number 10 who can also play out wide this summer.
Sancho Interest Cools
Jadon Sancho has been tipped to return to Dortmund for a third time when his contract at Manchester United finally ends this summer. However, reports reveal that interest in the 26-year-old has cooled. Hertha Berlin's Kennet Eichhorn, Matias Fernandez of Lille, and Colombian youngster Samuel Martinez are among other options being considered, but Nwaneri remains highly thought of.
Dortmund to Make Another Attempt
Dortmund will make another attempt to sign the teenager, having already inquired into his situation. Crucially, Nwaneri is said to be open to the move, although a deal is currently regarded as unlikely due to the difficulty in agreeing a loan and the transfer fee Arsenal would likely demand. It was reported last month that Arsenal will demand a combined fee of £100 million for Nwaneri and fellow academy graduate Myles Lewis-Skelly if the pair are sold this summer.
Other Potential Departures
Lewis-Skelly's first-team prospects have looked much brighter in recent weeks, but Manchester United have been credited with keen interest. Gabriel Jesus, Ben White, and Gabriel Martinelli could also be sold this summer as Arsenal look to reshape their squad.
