Corrie: Idris's dark side exposed as Leanne faces truth

Coronation Street's newest villain, Idris Nazir (Junade Khan), is about to reveal his full dark side, leaving girlfriend Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) reeling. The property developer, who initially charmed Leanne by defending her from bullies, has a history of violence and intimidation that is finally catching up with him.

Idris's Growing List of Offenses

Idris first made an impression on the cobbles by ejecting rude customers from Speed Daal who were harassing Brody Michaelis (Ryan Mulvey). But his hero act quickly soured when he pinned a randomer named Damo (Jake Parry) against a wall over owed money. Leanne, still recovering from her adopted son Sam's psychotic breakdown caused by manipulative child predator Megan Walsh (Beth Nixon), was willing to overlook these red flags for a whirlwind romance.

However, Idris's crimes have escalated. He is responsible for the hospitalisation of Abi Webster's (Sally Carman) son Alfie Franklin (Carter and Oakley Razak Townsend) after black mould in a property he leased to them caused severe breathing difficulties. Instead of fixing the issue, Idris had Brody kidnap the previous landlord and threaten him. More recently, he targeted Speed Daal, owned by his supposed cousin Alya Nazir (Sair Khan), and spitefully revealed a family secret: he is actually her uncle, not her cousin, due to an affair by her grandfather.

Leanne's Blindness and Alya's Decision

Leanne has remained largely oblivious to Idris's nasty streak, though she did notice his controlling behavior when he deliberately turned off her phone ringer during an intimate moment to block a call from Toyah Battersby (Georgia Taylor). Despite these warning signs, Leanne is too infatuated to see the truth.

In upcoming episodes, Alya's decision to sell Speed Daal triggers Idris's monstrous side, which even Leanne cannot ignore. When Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) points out that Alya has missed an important deadline, she realizes she must choose between her legal career and the restaurant. At Speed Daal, she informs Idris and Leanne that she plans to sell to an old family friend, Gavin.

The Threat to Gavin

Idris assumes Speed Daal will soon be his, but he is wrong. The next day, Alya shows Gavin around the restaurant, with Idris watching closely. Gavin is impressed, but as he heads to his car, Idris approaches. Whatever is said, it cannot be good, because the next day Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Toyah warn Leanne that Idris is a thug who frightened off the potential buyer. The question remains: will Leanne finally believe them?
