Coronation Street: Todd and Gary's Secret Exposed as Kit Closes In

Attention remained on Gary Windass (Mikey North) in tonight's Coronation Street, as Theo Silverton's (James Cartwright) murder investigation continued. After DS Lisa Connor-Swain (Vicky Myers) told Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) about Theo being killed, she decided to make George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) her first suspect.

Lisa's Suspicion of George

Lisa was suspicious about George's movements because she had found a shirt belonging to him with Theo's blood on it. George also failed to immediately tell Lisa about the walk he went on the night Theo died, fuelling her concern that he might be hiding something else. However, George was released due to lack of evidence to prove the theory that he is the killer.

Gary Under Questioning

Lisa and Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) then decided to take Gary in for questioning. The detectives asked Gary about where he was the night Theo died, noting that they used to be friends and that Gary had to keep his temper in check after learning about Theo abusing Todd. Gary revealed in his interview that the CCTV footage from the builder's yard deletes itself after a week, which meant Kit and Lisa could not access potentially important evidence. In reality, Gary deleted it himself because the CCTV camera caught him smashing up Theo's van. He was then released after Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) provided an alibi for him.

While Gary thought he was in the clear, the soap confirmed that he may fall under the spotlight in the near future, due to a picture catching him walking the cobbles alone on the night in question.

Todd's Emotional Turmoil

In this evening's episode, Todd struggled with his overwhelming emotions following Theo's death. He explained in a chat with Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) and later Theo's ex Danielle (Natalie Anderson) that sometimes he feels genuine sadness at Theo's demise, but then moments later he feels relief. He does not really know how to feel, and it is made even worse by the fact that Lisa and Kit are keeping a watchful eye over him.

Todd paid a visit to Gary and, in an attempt to find answers himself, asked outright if he killed Theo. Gary said no, but Todd had reason to feel suspicious due to them previously having an agreement to 'scare Theo off'. Gary confirmed that the only thing he did was smash up Theo's van, but Todd wondered if he was lying. Secrets are kept so easily on this street, which prompted Gary to point out that Todd could be the one hiding a murderous secret.

Kit's Growing Suspicion

As they clashed, neither spotted Kit in the background, clearly curious. Will this push Kit closer to the truth? Or is he looking in the wrong direction?
