Daniel Osbourne's world has been shattered in Coronation Street after discovering the truth about Megan Walsh. The beloved character, played by Rob Mallard, is struggling to cope with the revelation that his romantic relationship was a cover for Megan's abuse of teenager Will Driscoll.
Daniel's Unraveling
Producer Kate Brooks revealed that Daniel will be deeply affected for a long time. "He met somebody who's on the same page as a teacher, apparently respectable, and he's been completely duped by it, and it completely makes him unravel," she said. "Rob who plays Daniel is such a phenomenal actor and we'll see him slowly start to lose it, because of wondering who to trust."
Daniel feels he has let down both Will and his son Bertie. "He's been bitten so badly by this relationship, and by the fact that he was the one who defended her as well, he feels like he's let Will down. He feels like he's let Bertie down," Brooks added.
Unlikely Friendship with Jodie Ramsey
Brooks also teased a surprising friendship between Daniel and Jodie Ramsey, played by Olivia Frances-Brown. "An unlikely little friendship will be formed, which I don't think many people see coming, but it's a really different insight into what makes them both tick," she explained. "For the first time, Daniel's able to be truthful about how he feels."
Clash with Hope Stape
Daniel's new story kicks off next week with a confrontation with teenager Hope Stape. After Daniel accuses her of using AI to cheat on a poem, Hope retaliates with a snide remark about Megan. When Daniel tries to grab a poem she wrote about him and Megan, Hope accuses him of assault as Mrs. Crawshaw arrives.
Later, Daniel tells Ken Barlow about the disciplinary action and rants to Adam Barlow, but ends up scaring Bertie. He decides to head to the Lakes to clear his head, leaving Bertie with Ken and Adam. However, alone, he turns to a bottle of whisky to block out his thoughts.
