'But we are happy for him, especially for him, because we are probably not able to understand what he has been through during this time and how he feels at the moment with the things he has had to cope with.'
Alonso emphasized that Mudryk trained alone during his ban, a mentally taxing experience. 'We expect that it will take time. He trained on his own every day, and I think it had to be really, really hard because he wanted to play football, he wanted to be part of a team, and he was not allowed to do that for such a long time,' he added. 'Afterwards we will see if it's quicker or slower, but we need to be aware of that. We want him to feel part of the team. Once he is with us, we will see how things develop.'
Mudryk, for his part, expressed gratitude for finally being able to return, describing the period as 'the most difficult' of his career. His Chelsea record so far has been underwhelming, with just five goals in two and a half Premier League seasons.
Chalobah's Departure to Como
Meanwhile, Chelsea have agreed to sell Trevoh Chalobah to Como, the Serie A side managed by Chelsea legend Cesc Fabregas. The deal is worth an initial £27.5 million, with an additional £5.1 million in potential add-ons, bringing the total to over £31 million.
Chalobah, 27, made 151 appearances for Chelsea, including 47 last season. His exit was sanctioned by Alonso after the club signed Maxence Lacroix from Crystal Palace for £52 million to bolster the defense.
