Chelsea have raised their asking price for Liam Delap to £50 million following an approach from Serie A side Como, according to Sky Italy. The 23-year-old striker, who joined the Blues from Ipswich Town for £30 million last summer, has struggled in his debut season, scoring just three goals in 47 appearances.

Como, managed by former Arsenal and Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas, are preparing for their first Champions League campaign and have already spent £30.7 million to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea. Their healthy relationship with Stamford Bridge has led them to make an approach for Delap, with reports suggesting they may try to sign him on loan.
However, Chelsea's valuation has now increased from the previously reported £35-40 million range to £50 million, a figure that seems unlikely to attract any club given Delap's poor form. The Blues had initially been open to offers in the region of £35-40 million as they looked to make a profit on their investment.
Delap's difficult season at Chelsea
Delap's first season at Chelsea has been a nightmare, with the Englishman failing to establish himself in the starting lineup. Joao Pedro is firmly ahead in the pecking order, while new manager Xabi Alonso has signed veteran Danny Welbeck to serve as Pedro's deputy.
Everton, Nottingham Forest, and Leeds United have also shown interest in the striker, but it remains to be seen whether Alonso would sanction a loan exit that could improve Delap's credentials. The striker's previous form, including 12 goals for a poor Ipswich team and 35 goals and nine assists in 36 games for Manchester City's U21 side, suggests he has potential, but his recent performances have been disappointing.

Delap, who still has five years left on his contract, is one of many players Chelsea are looking to sell or loan out before the transfer deadline on September 1. In other news, talks are underway for a transfer that would see £19 million signing Omari Kellyman join BlueCo's other club Strasbourg in a permanent deal.
