Cech advises Man Utd starlet Vitek on transfer

Chelsea legend Petr Cech has urged Manchester United starlet Radek Vitek to ‘continue playing’ next season, even if it means leaving the club this summer. The former Premier League goalkeeper believes the young shot-stopper must prioritise regular first-team action to continue his development.

Vitek's Impressive Loan Spell

Vitek joined Bristol City last summer after previous loan stints at Accrington Stanley and Austrian side BW Linz. He enjoyed a fantastic campaign in the Championship, scooping the Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year, and Players’ Player of the Year awards. The 21-year-old signed a new long-term contract with Manchester United before departing on loan, but his future at Old Trafford remains uncertain.

Competition at Old Trafford

Senne Lammens arrived from Royal Antwerp last summer and has established himself as United's first-choice goalkeeper after the disappointing reigns of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. Despite a mistake in the recent 3-2 win over Liverpool, the Belgian is expected to be a long-term option. With Onana and Bayindir likely to leave, there will be room for a second goalkeeper, but Vitek would face stiff competition for minutes.

Cech's Advice

Former Chelsea and Arsenal star Cech has been impressed with his young compatriot and expects interest from other Premier League clubs this summer. ‘It’s important to play,’ Cech told BBC Sport. ‘Of course, there are situations where you know you have a big chance to come back and fight for your position. But as it stands at United, Lammens has done really well. I’m sure he will want to go somewhere and continue playing.’

Cech added: ‘It’s great to see him progress. Playing for the Under-21s at United is one thing, but then he played men’s football in Austria, which went really well, and then he came back to England with Bristol City and did well there. That gives him an opportunity to attract attention from Premier League teams.’

Future Prospects

Vitek's performances have drawn praise from many, including Cech, who met him a couple of years ago. ‘I could see he’s got the hunger and the willingness to get better,’ Cech said. With several Premier League clubs reportedly monitoring his situation, Vitek faces a crucial decision this summer to ensure his career continues on an upward trajectory.
