Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has been struggling to cope with his health issues in Emmerdale, but his operation day has finally arrived. The character, known for his tough exterior, has become withdrawn, aggressive, and even tried to end his marriage to Moira (Natalie J Robb) out of fear that he would lose his ability to have sex. He went as far as to say he would cancel the operation and risk death rather than lose his wife.
Moira, however, proved to be the resilient one, brushing off his comments and reassuring him that she is in it for the long haul. Despite her support, Cain remained anxious as the day of the surgery approached. He and Moira put on brave faces as he prepared to go under the knife. Meanwhile, Kyle struggled with the fear that his father's life was at risk.
Surgery Success but Post-Op Fears
The operation went smoothly, but when Cain woke up, he was met with his worst fear: a catheter and blood in his urine, signaling potential permanent incontinence. Actor Jeff Hordley explained that Cain had not taken in all the information about postoperative care beforehand, leading him to scare himself unnecessarily. He faked pain to avoid being discharged, but Moira saw through his act and called in backup: Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill).
Sarah confronted Cain about his self-pity and convinced him to go home. However, this decision proved to be a mistake as Cain's ordeal changed him. He struggled to control his emotions and his temper flared when he noticed an atmosphere during a visit from Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) and Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller).
Revenge Unleashed
Moira was forced to reveal that Robert was behind her arrest, which sent Cain into a vengeful rage. He roped Sam (James Hooton) into knocking Robert unconscious and dragging him to a barn, where Cain waited with a hammer. Jeff Hordley commented: 'This guy's made so many mistakes in the past, as far as Cain's concerned. Already taking the farm in his eyes off him, but then to find out that he was instrumental in Moira going inside, he just sees the red mist descend. He finds the strength to go round with a hammer.'
With Cain's violent tendencies taking over, viewers are left wondering if he is about to make a very big mistake that could change his life forever.
