Brighton have set a price tag of between £43 million and £51 million for midfielder Jack Hinshelwood, with Arsenal and Manchester United expected to make offers in the coming days, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the Premier League's most promising young talents since his debut in 2023. Primarily a defensive midfielder, Hinshelwood contributed eight goal involvements in 27 league appearances last season, helping Brighton secure qualification for the UEFA Conference League.
He has earned 11 caps for England's U21 side and was a key figure in Lee Carsley's squad that won the U21 European Championship in 2025.
Arsenal and United prepare bids
Manchester United have long admired Hinshelwood and are known to want a third midfielder this summer following the arrivals of Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans. Manchester City are also said to be interested, though he does not appear to be a priority for the club, which is currently working on a deal for World Cup breakout star Ayyoub Bouaddi.
Arsenal, however, are reportedly leading the race for his signature. The Premier League champions have made direct contact with Hinshelwood's representatives over a possible move. Mikel Arteta is said to be a big fan of the midfielder's versatility, as he can also play in a more advanced role and at right-back.
Arsenal's defensive and midfield needs
The Gunners are looking to add a right-sided defender due to injury concerns surrounding Jurrien Timber, Ben White, and William Saliba. Additionally, a new midfielder may be required, as while Bruno Guimaraes has signed from Newcastle, there is a chance that both Martin Zubimendi and Ethan Nwaneri could leave the club before deadline day.
According to The Sun, Arsenal and United will make enquiries into Hinshelwood's availability, and it is believed an offer in the region of £43 million to £51 million should be enough to secure a deal.
Brighton's stance
Brighton do not wish to lose their star youngster, who has three years left on his current contract, especially in a season where they will be competing in European competition. The Seagulls are set to face Norwegian side Tromso in their Conference League play-off over the next two weeks.
It is not known whether Hinshelwood himself is keen on leaving the Amex, though he has a strong affinity for Brighton, as his father Adam made over 100 appearances for the club. The coming days are likely to see formal approaches from both Arsenal and Manchester United as they test Brighton's resolve.
