Jarrod Bowen, the West Ham United winger, has become a target for Chelsea, Liverpool, and Manchester United as rival clubs prepare to exploit West Ham's financial difficulties. The England international has recorded a combined 21 goals and assists this season, attracting interest from top Premier League sides.
Financial Pressure at West Ham
West Ham could be forced to raise over £100 million if they are relegated from the Premier League. The club reported a £104.2 million loss in the last financial year, and even if they avoid relegation, player sales may be necessary. Relegation could force Bowen to reconsider his future, as he has been loyal to West Ham since joining from Hull City in January 2020.
Interest from Liverpool, Manchester United, and Chelsea
Liverpool have long admired Bowen and see him as a boost to their forward line. Manchester United, after qualifying for the Champions League, want to add depth in attack and value Bowen's versatility—he primarily plays on the right but can also operate as a central striker or left winger. Chelsea, focusing on signing young players, are also keen to add experience and believe Bowen could offer competition on the right and cover for strikers. However, Chelsea's interest is not yet advanced.
Bowen's contract runs until 2030, and it is unclear how much West Ham would demand. The 29-year-old scored the winning goal in West Ham's 2020 Conference League final victory over Fiorentina and remains a fan favorite. He is also hoping to be included in England's World Cup squad.
Other Players Attracting Interest
Mateus Fernandes, the Portugal midfielder, is also being pursued by Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain. Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville is expected to be available for transfer. If Tottenham Hotspur take a point from either of their final two games, West Ham will be relegated.
