BMW driver in 130mph M25 chase says girlfriend cheated on him
BMW driver in 130mph M25 chase cites cheating girlfriend

A 24-year-old BMW driver who led police on a 130mph chase along the M25 was arrested after claiming his girlfriend had cheated on him. Mudassir Sandhu, from Morden, south London, was finally stopped near junction 10 in Surrey when officers deployed a 'stinger' device to puncture his tyres.

Bodycam footage released by the Metropolitan Police shows officers pursuing Sandhu's BMW X1 before smashing a window and pulling him from the vehicle. During the arrest, Sandhu can be heard asking why he is being 'beaten up', to which an officer responds: 'Because you're driving like an absolute imbecile.'

Use of Nitrous Oxide Balloons

During the chase, Sandhu was observed inhaling nitrous oxide from balloons and switching off his vehicle's lights in an attempt to evade capture. When questioned about the balloons, he told officers: 'I've got depression, alright. Listen, my girl literally just cheated on me, man.'

The officer replied: 'And this is your appropriate response to that? You're an imbecile.' Sandhu later revealed the car was a 'work car', adding: 'I've lost my job, innit?' The officer responded: 'Yeah, damn right.'

Court Sentencing

Sandhu was charged with dangerous driving and failing to stop. At Guildford Crown Court in June, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison, disqualified from driving for four months, and ordered to pay a £187 fine.

The incident occurred on the M25, a major orbital motorway around London, where speeds reached 130mph—well above the 70mph limit. The use of a stinger device, which deploys spikes to deflate tyres, brought the chase to a safe conclusion.

Police have not released further details about the exact date of the chase, but the footage has been widely shared as a cautionary example of reckless driving.
