Billy Fletcher learns Kev Townsend attacked him in Emmerdale

Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) has discovered that Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) was the one who attacked him, not Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), in the August 19 episode of Emmerdale now available on ITVX and YouTube before its ITV1 broadcast. The revelation forces Billy to choose between telling Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) the truth, which would end their escape plan, or keeping the secret and continuing their move to Spain.

How the Attack Really Happened

Billy and Dawn have been plotting to leave Emmerdale after Billy told Dawn that Joe put him in hospital. Believing Joe was a violent liar, Dawn decided to end their relationship. However, the attack was actually carried out by Kev Townsend, who was at the depot trying to stop his mate Steve (Jason Done) from robbing the place. When Billy got in their way, Kev was forced to take action.

Billy and Dawn, unaware of the truth, have been packing up their lives without Joe finding out. They accepted help from Caleb and Ruby Miligan (William Ash and Beth Cordingly), who are assisting only because they want to see Joe's life fall apart.

The Stag Do Surprise and the Confrontation

Billy and Dawn aimed to leave for Spain yesterday, when Joe and Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) were heading to Prague for Joe's stag do. Plans changed when Dawn and Billy discovered Joe had organised a joint stag and hen do instead. Neither could determine if Joe knew about their plan or if he simply wanted to celebrate with his partner and family at Home Farm.

In today's episode, Joe invited everyone to The Hide for food. Billy and Dawn remained on edge, unsure of Joe's motives. Kev heard about the event and attended for free food. After drinking, Kev spotted Billy alone and made a comment about both having been in prison, then blurted out that he attacked Billy.

Billy's Crossroads Decision

As Billy processed the news, he watched Dawn dance with Joe. The revelation leaves Billy at a crossroads. If he tells Dawn that Joe didn't attack him, there is no reason for her to leave. They will marry, and Billy will be left alone. If Billy does not tell Dawn, the exit plan can proceed. They will move to Spain, start a new life with their children, but Billy must keep the truth about his attack a secret forever.

According to the episode, Billy must now decide which path to take, with the outcome set to change everything for the characters involved.
