Bayern Munich have confirmed that Jamal Musiala was conscious and able to get changed as usual after collapsing during the team's pre-season clash with Heidenheim at Voith-Arena on Tuesday evening. The incident occurred just three days after a similar scare in a friendly against RB Leipzig, raising concerns about the 23-year-old Germany international's health.
Scary scenes on the pitch
Musiala appeared disorientated before falling to the floor, prompting an immediate response from team-mates Jonathan Tah and Harry Kane, who rushed to assist the forward and gently laid him on the ground. Players from both sides quickly formed a ring around Musiala to shield him from cameras as medical staff attended to him.
Chants of 'Jamal Musiala' rang out around the stadium while he received treatment on the field. The forward was eventually able to walk off the pitch, initially heading toward the substitutes' bench, but then made a beeline for the tunnel accompanied by two Bayern staff members. Cassiano Kiala came on as his replacement.
Club update and reaction
Bayern's director of sport, Max Eberl, provided an update to reporters, saying: 'Jamal will speak about this in the foreseeable future. We knew and still know about the situation… Jamal will speak out. He is in the locker room, changing his clothes, showering.'
The club's confirmation that Musiala was conscious and able to change as usual offers some reassurance, but the recurrence of the collapse within days will likely prompt further medical evaluation. The incident has left fans and team-mates in a state of shock, with the match continuing after Musiala's departure.
Looking ahead
Musiala's condition will be monitored closely as Bayern continue their pre-season preparations. The forward's health remains the priority, and further updates are expected, with Eberl indicating that Musiala himself will address the situation publicly in the foreseeable future. The club has not yet announced any specific medical tests or a timeline for his return to training.
