A sense of palpable relief filled Villa Park as Aston Villa secured a 2-0 victory against Maccabi Tel Aviv in a Europa League fixture that had been heavily overshadowed by geopolitical tensions and security concerns. The biggest cheer of a somewhat unsettling night was reserved for John McGinn, who came on to make his 300th appearance for Aston Villa.
