Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta praised the referee and VAR for disallowing West Ham's stoppage-time equaliser as his side secured a 1-0 victory at the London Stadium. The decision sparked debate, but Arteta was adamant it was correct.
Arteta's Reaction
'You're talking about a moment that can decide the history and the course of two massive clubs that are fighting with their lives to achieve their objectives, and the pressure is huge,' Arteta said. 'It was the right choice. I think it is an obvious error and it is a free-kick and the goal has to be disallowed, so congratulations because they made a big call in very, very difficult circumstances.'
Impact on the Title Race
The result leaves Arsenal two wins away from their first league title since 2004. Meanwhile, West Ham remain a point adrift of safety with two games remaining, while the outcome also guarantees another season in the Premier League for Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
