Ben White Injury Blow: Arsenal Defender Faces Month Out With Hamstring Issue
Arsenal's Ben White sidelined for a month with hamstring injury

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been dealt a fresh defensive setback, with confirmation that Ben White is facing a significant spell on the treatment table.

Hamstring Injury Strikes During Wolves Victory

The defender was forced off after just 31 minutes of Saturday's hard-fought 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium. White, who had recently regained his place in the starting lineup, felt a problem in his hamstring and was replaced by young midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly.

While the Gunners eventually secured the three points thanks to a Yerson Mosquera own goal in injury time, the victory came at a cost. Initial scans have now revealed the extent of the damage, with reports indicating White will be unavailable for at least a month.

Arteta's Growing Defensive Crisis

The news is a major frustration for both player and manager. White has struggled for consistent game time this season due to a prior knee issue and increased competition from Jurrien Timber at right-back. His return to fitness had been timely, given Arsenal's ongoing injury woes at the back.

Speaking after the match, a concerned Arteta highlighted his squad's fragility. "He hasn't played a lot of minutes because of the previous knee issue," the Arsenal boss explained. "The moment he started to get some momentum, he had to play a lot because we didn't have any other solution. We had to even risk [William] Saliba today... that's bad news for sure."

Saliba himself was making a return from injury against Wolves, underscoring the crisis. Centre-backs Gabriel Magalhaes and Cristhian Mosquera remain absent, though Riccardo Calafiori is now fit again after his own problems.

Fixture Pile-Up Adds to the Pressure

White's absence comes during a congested festive period for the Premier League leaders. Arsenal's upcoming schedule is demanding:

  • Sat Dec 20: Everton (a) - Premier League
  • Tue Dec 23: Crystal Palace (h) - Carabao Cup quarter-final
  • Sat Dec 27: Brighton & Hove Albion (h) - Premier League
  • Tue Dec 30: Aston Villa (h) - Premier League

With further absentees including Kai Havertz and teenager Max Dowman, Arteta's resources are being stretched thin as he seeks to maintain Arsenal's title challenge on multiple fronts.
