Arsenal have been warned that selling Martin Odegaard in the summer transfer window would be a huge mistake, with former midfielder Anders Limpar calling the potential move 'dangerous'.
Odegaard's Role Under Scrutiny
Odegaard has been a key player for Arsenal since his £30m move from Real Madrid in 2021, making over 200 appearances. However, persistent injuries and a dip in form have reduced his influence this season, with just one goal and seven assists in all competitions. The emergence of Eberechi Eze and Max Dowman has led some to question his long-term future.
Limpar's Warning
Anders Limpar, who played for Arsenal in the early 1990s, believes selling Odegaard would be a dangerous decision. 'The other players rely on him so much,' Limpar told FruityKing. 'He takes the pressure off Declan Rice and Martin Zubimendi. Without Odegaard, the playmaker, the team would look to Rice, who is an engine but not a 20-assist passer. Zubimendi is not that player either.'
Limpar added: 'It's not fair what people say about Odegaard. To say he's been a bad player or we need to sell him, no, I don't think so.'
Arsenal's Midfield Dynamics
Odegaard's creative role is crucial, as he links defence and attack, making his teammates better. Without him, the burden would fall on Rice and Zubimendi, who are more defensive-minded. Limpar insists that selling Odegaard could disrupt the team's balance.
As the summer transfer window approaches, Arsenal face a decision on whether to cash in on their captain or stick with him despite his recent struggles.
