Arsenal Player Ratings: White's 'Sublime' 9/10 Masterclass in Brentford Win
Arsenal Player Ratings: Gunners edge past Brentford 2-0

Arsenal secured a crucial return to form with a 2-0 victory over London rivals Brentford at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening. The win, their tenth of the Premier League season, helped the Gunners bounce back from a frustrating draw against Chelsea.

Dominant Display Seals Vital Three Points

Mikel Arteta's side controlled large periods of the match against the Bees, though they once again faced questions about their decisiveness in the final third. Despite this, first-half goalscorer Mikel Merino and a late Bukayo Saka strike were enough to secure the points in a dominant performance.

The home side felt they should have taken maximum points from a 10-man Chelsea at Stamford Bridge previously, but found the required cutting edge against Brentford. The visitors' best chance fell to Kevin Schade, whose powerful header was brilliantly tipped onto the crossbar by Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya.

Standout Performers and Frustrating Flaws

The match provided a platform for several players to shine, while others struggled to make their mark. The defensive unit, despite being makeshift, earned a clean sheet, with one player earning particularly high praise.

Ben White was the star of the show, earning a sublime 9/10 rating in his first Premier League start since the opening day. The full-back was bright and confident throughout, combining effectively on the right and providing a superb assist for Merino's headed goal. A crucial sliding block in the first half typified his excellent performance.

In midfield, summer signing Martin Zubimendi impressed with an 8/10 display, covering vast areas of the pitch and distributing the ball intelligently. Declan Rice (7/10) posed a threat, forcing a save from distance, while captain Martin Odegaard (6/10), making his first start after injury, faded as the game progressed.

Merino Leads the Line, Madueke Frustrates

Up front, the versatile Mikel Merino continued to defy his 'makeshift striker' label with another natural centre-forward's display. The Spaniard, rated 8/10, peeled away from his marker with ease to nod home the opener, proving a constant blessing for Arteta.

However, it was a more frustrating evening for winger Noni Madueke, who received a 5/10. While his pace and nimble footwork caused problems, his end product was lacking and he was guilty of delivering several feeble corner kicks. Gabriel Martinelli (6/10) was full of energy but lacked confidence, blazing a good chance over the bar.

Substitutes also made a strong impact. Jurrien Timber looked incredibly robust at centre-back after coming on, earning an 8/10, while Bukayo Saka (8/10) sealed the win with a late, looping shot that trickled over the line. Eberechi Eze (7/10) was immediately effective, winning several fouls.

The result solidifies Arsenal's position in the upper echelons of the Premier League table as they put the Chelsea stalemate firmly behind them.
