Arrest made in Emmerdale as Aaron and Robert close in on the arsonist. Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) have been left baffled by the Emmerdale barn fires. At first, it seemed like Moira was being targeted for her alleged part in Celia Daniels’ (Jaye Griffiths) crimes, but since she’s been acquitted, it’s become clear she is not the target after all. So, who is, and why? Aaron and Robert have vowed to find the person, and it seems like they may well reveal themselves very soon.
There have been a few suspects named already, but one that is sticking in Aaron’s mind is Kammy. He showed up to work late looking scruffy and tired, Aaron can tell something is off. And it’s not just Aaron noticing something is up, Kammy’s new girlfriend Belle does too. Kammy Hadiq (Shebz Miah) is having an awkward conversation with Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor Draper) about family – or rather, him trying to avoid talking about family – when Aaron texts to say there’s been another barn fire. Kammy makes a hasty exit as Robert stresses over the culprit, which are not the actions of an innocent man. Does his hasty exit tell its own story?
As Robert and Aaron try to figure it all out, they don’t notice a shadowy figure watching them. Aaron is wound up to the eyeballs with stress and when Kammy arrives at the garage looking tired again, he almost snaps. Something is going on with Kammy and Aaron’s determined to get to the bottom of it. Belle senses something is up after his weird reaction to her questions about family and decides to snoop through his phone but stops herself before she crosses the line. She berates herself for nearly betraying him, but maybe she should trust her gut. There’s no smoke without fire, as it were.
As Belle wonders what his secret is, Kammy is setting up his bed for the night in a barn and getting comfortable with his sleeping bag. Here’s at least one big secret involving cheeky chappy Kammy – he’s homeless. This is a pretty devastating turn of events, but as of yet, no one knows. Shebz Miah tells Metro: ‘Kammy has got a lot of pride, and I think due to the trauma that he’s had, showing signs of weakness isn’t a thing for him.’
Aaron and Robert are tying themselves up in knots trying to figure out who the arsonist is when Matty (Ash Palmisciano) flags a shifty character in a field. They head off to investigate and catch their man red handed – it’s poor homeless Kammy with a petrol can. He feels rubbish as he explains he planned to torch his car – for insurance money perhaps? But his story has holes and Robert refuses to believe him, steadily losing control of his anger as he tries to get to the truth. Aaron steps in and gives Kammy an opportunity to escape.
Later there’s another fire, and Robert and Aaron lose their minds, immediately calling the police. Not long after, Kammy is being shoved into a police car under arrest. But did he do it? Speaking about Kammy being accused, Shebz reveals that Kammy’s mystery leaves him vulnerable to blame. ‘It’s just one of those things where, because he’s got no one, he’s got no leg to stand on,’ he says. ‘…it’s just one voice against the rest of the village.’ Can he prove his innocence?
