Former Premier League striker Jay Bothroyd has claimed that Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rogers would walk into Arsenal's team next season. Rogers, 23, has attracted widespread interest ahead of the summer transfer window, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool all considering a move.
Rogers Open to Leaving Villa
The England international is understood to be open to leaving Villa at the end of the season, and the club is aware that receiving a significant fee would ease their financial pressure. Villa are demanding at least £80 million for Rogers, who has recorded 11 goals and nine assists in all competitions this season.
Bothroyd Urges Arsenal to Act
Bothroyd, an Arsenal supporter and academy graduate, has urged the Gunners to beat their Premier League rivals to sign Rogers. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: 'Arsenal… he walks into Arsenal's team. He plays week in, week out on the left-hand side, we need a player who can play on the left-hand side, he's got that in abundance.'
Bothroyd added: 'I feel like with Eze, he's probably Arsenal's No.10, I would like to see Morgan Rogers playing there and tucking inside, I think he's a great player.' He dismissed interest from Bayern Munich and PSG, noting that those clubs have strong attacking options, and concluded that Arsenal is the best fit for Rogers to play regularly.
