Cyclist's Close Call: Car Skids and Flips in Northamptonshire
Cyclist narrowly avoids skidding car in close call

A cyclist in Northamptonshire experienced a genuinely terrifying moment when an out-of-control car skidded towards him, missing him by mere inches before flipping over.

The Heart-Stopping Incident

George Fox was cycling with a fellow cyclist on November 6 when the dramatic event unfolded. As they rode, a car came around a bend and immediately began to skid across the road directly towards them.

The vehicle slid across the lane, narrowly avoiding both cyclists in what witnesses described as a heart-stopping moment. The car then continued its trajectory, smashing into another vehicle that was behind the cyclists before flipping upside down onto its roof.

Aftermath and Miraculous Escape

Speaking about the experience, George Fox said watching the video back was 'Genuinely terrifying'. Both cyclists immediately pulled over to the side of the road and went to check on the drivers involved in the crash.

In what can only be described as miraculous, everyone involved in the situation walked away without any injuries despite the severity of the impact and the car ending up completely overturned.

Broader Context of Cycling Safety

This incident highlights the ongoing safety concerns for cyclists on UK roads. In a separate but similarly alarming event captured previously, BBC presenter Jeremy Vine filmed the moment Australian singer Jason Donovan was almost hit by a London bus while cycling.

The footage showed a City Sightseeing bus careering past Donovan on Oxford Street, coming dangerously close to the cyclist. Vine was heard exclaiming, 'How can he do that? How can the bus go that close to you?'

Remarkably unfazed, Donovan later remarked about spotting Vine's distinctive helmet camera, realizing it must be the broadcaster filming the incident. The two cyclists met up again at the next set of traffic lights, where Vine showed Donovan just how close the bus had come to him.

These incidents serve as stark reminders of the vulnerability of cyclists on Britain's roads and the importance of road safety for all users.
