A 16-year-old boy has died in hospital after being struck by a car while cycling near Birmingham City's St Andrew's stadium. The incident occurred on Cattell Road at approximately 5.25am on Friday, and the teenager succumbed to his injuries the following day.
Arrest and police appeal
A 47-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in police custody. West Midlands Police are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward.

Emergency response and hospital care
An ambulance service spokeswoman detailed the response: 'We were called to reports of an RTC involving a car and a pushbike at the junction of Cattell Road and Tilton Road in Nechells, Birmingham, at 5.23am and sent three ambulances, a paramedic officer and a MERIT trauma doctor with a critical care paramedic to the scene.'
'On arrival, a man, the cyclist, was found in a critical condition. He received specialist trauma care before being conveyed under emergency driving conditions to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.'
Scene and ongoing investigation
A silver car was seen at the scene after striking a bus stop. The investigation is ongoing, and police continue to appeal for witnesses or dashcam footage to assist their inquiries.
