Breanna Scott and Jesse Moore have added to Australia’s gold medal haul at the Commonwealth Games, winning individual apparatus titles in Glasgow. Scott secured the balance beam title with a score of 13.933 points, defeating Singapore’s Amanda Yap (13.233) and Canada’s Lia-Monica Fontaine (13.00). Moore claimed victory on parallel bars with 14.000 points, ahead of Cypriot veteran Marios Georgiou (13.800) and Canada’s Félix Dolci (13.300).
Scott’s second gold of the Games
Scott’s beam gold is her second medal of the 2026 Commonwealth Games, following her contribution to Australia’s team all-around victory. It is her first individual gold medal, having also earned silver in the women’s individual all-around. “Balance beam is definitely my favourite when it’s going well,” Scott said. “It’s kind of crazy, to be honest. It definitely hasn’t sunk in yet. The last three days have just been absolutely wild. The team gold was such a special medal for all of us, and that was really the main goal coming into this. All of us in finals, now getting these extra little medals is just topping it off.”
Moore’s redemption on parallel bars
Moore, Australia’s leading men’s gymnast heading to Glasgow, found redemption after missing the podium on rings and pommel horse. The 23-year-old will leave the Games with three medals: a team bronze, an individual all-around bronze, and his gold on parallel bars. Australia has medalled on every day of the five-day gymnastics competition, sitting second behind Canada ahead of the final apparatus events.
Upcoming events for Australia
McDonald and Georgia Godwin, a breakout star from the 2022 Birmingham Games, will compete in the floor exercise final. In the men’s competition, James Hardy placed fifth on vault after winning floor and rings bronze the day before. Ritam Malik will conclude Australia’s gymnastics campaign in the horizontal bar final.
