Hackney Half Marathon 2026: Route, Start Time, and Spectator Guide
Hackney Half Marathon 2026: Complete Guide for Runners and Fans

The Hackney Half Marathon has become one of the UK's most beloved running events since its launch in 2014. Often compared to the Reading and Leeds festival in the running world, this 13.1-mile race through east London prioritises fun and community spirit. Runners are energised at every mile by DJs, live bands, and thousands of enthusiastic spectators. The race is the highlight of Hackney Moves, a weekend filled with fitness classes, food stalls, and live entertainment on Hackney Marshes. This year's event takes place on Sunday, May 17, 2026. Whether you are participating or cheering from the sidelines, here is all the essential information.

When and Where Does the Hackney Half Start?

The main race begins at 9:00 AM with staggered start waves based on predicted finish times. While individual start times have not been confirmed, they are expected to mirror the 2025 schedule: Start Pen A-B from 9:00 AM to 9:20 AM, Pen C-D from 9:20 AM to 9:40 AM, Pen E-F from 9:40 AM to 10:00 AM, and Pen G-H from 10:00 AM to 10:20 AM. The race starts and finishes on Hackney Marshes.

Hackney Half Marathon 2026 Route

The route remains unchanged from previous years. Runners depart Hackney Marshes, head towards Hackney Downs, circle it, then proceed to Hackney Central. They continue down Queensbridge Road to Haggerston and Haggerston Park, pass London Fields, skirt the outskirts of Victoria Park, and return to the Marshes.
