Day five of the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow featured a packed schedule of events, with athletes from across the Commonwealth competing in swimming, weightlifting, gymnastics, athletics, and bowls. The action unfolded at venues including the Scotstoun Stadium, Tollcross International Swimming Centre, and the SEC Centre.
Swimming: Forrester and McInnes shine
Australia's Jenna Forrester qualified fastest in the heats of the women's 200m individual medley, showcasing her backstroke leg from a vantage point in the rafters. In the women's 100m butterfly final, Scotland's Keanna McInnes secured second place, receiving hugs from teammates Lucy Grieve and Ciara Schlosshan after her race. England's Jacob Peters also competed in the men's 50m butterfly heats. Sasha Gatt of Malta made a splash in the women's 800m freestyle heats.
Weightlifting: England and Malaysia in action
England's Sarah Davies Smale competed in the women's 63kg weightlifting final, captured in a slow shutter-speed photo. Muhammad Hafizuddin Bin Roslin of Malaysia hugged the weights after competing in the men's 88kg weightlifting final.
Gymnastics: Vault finals
