With just two games remaining in the season, Camden Town WFC are finishing in impressive style, showcasing the talent that promises a bright future. Under the lights at Maurice Rebak Stadium last Thursday, Darren Smith's side secured a commanding 4-1 comeback victory over Hackney.
After falling behind early, Town responded with authority. Anna Kimberley produced a brilliant solo effort to level the scores, before Kelly Faye converted a penalty after Ginny Somers was fouled in the box. Faye struck again in the second half with a stunning long-range effort after spotting the goalkeeper off her line.
The victory was capped by a milestone moment: 16-year-old academy player Chloe Nuttall made her first-team debut, providing a perfect cross for Somers to score. Nuttall is the 16th academy player to break into the first team in three years.
This win follows a 6-0 thrashing of Soccer Elite Football Academy, taking Town's goal tally to 10 in two games. Their record now stands at 12 wins and five draws from 18 matches in Division One North of the London & South East Regional Women's League.
Club chairman Richard Mahoney praised the academy pathway: "It was fantastic to see Chloe and Shyla involved, these are the moments that show the pathway is real. A huge amount of credit goes to our academy coaches and the parents for their commitment. Nights like this are the reward for all that hard work. It's special, and it's only the beginning for these young players."
