Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes missing amid donkey sanctuary row

Zoe Sugg, known online as Zoella, and her fiancé Alfie Deyes have been largely absent from social media for months, with fans speculating about their whereabouts. The couple, who have built a digital empire since 2012, typically share daily vlogs and brand campaigns. However, Sugg, 36, has not posted since December 2025 after her annual Vlogmas series, while Deyes, 32, last shared content in April 2026—a stark contrast to his usual daily uploads.

Planning application reveals donkey sanctuary plans

Local planning documents from the Brighton area show that Deyes has submitted a planning application to the local parish council for a donkey farm on a five-acre plot north of their £1.7 million home in a quiet West Sussex village. The proposal includes a tractor parking area, a donkey enclosure and stable, a wildlife pond, and three shepherd huts.

The application has sparked controversy among residents, who object to the 2.1-metre-high boundary fencing and new access gates. They argue the development will create safety hazards on the private lane and that heavy vehicles needed for donkey care could damage mature tree roots.

Support from some neighbours

According to the planning agent, the shepherd huts are not for residential or Airbnb use but will store beekeeping equipment, land maintenance tools, and donkey feed, and serve as a daytime rest room by the pond. Some neighbours have expressed support, calling the project a sustainable return to agricultural roots and an ecological asset.

The update has reassured fans that the couple are safe, though their social media absence remains partly unexplained. Metro has contacted representatives for comment.
