Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Russia of deliberately targeting a Unesco-listed religious site in Kyiv, as the death toll from a massive Russian attack rises to 11.
Zelenskyy's Statement
In a post on X, Zelenskyy stated: “It has been confirmed that two Russian drones deliberately targeted the part of the city where the Lavra and the Mystetskyi Arsenal are located.” He added that 35 people are reported injured in Kyiv, and across the country, 53 people have been wounded, with 11 confirmed dead.
Russia's Denial
Moscow has denied targeting the Unesco site, but Zelenskyy insisted the attack was intentional. The Lavra, a historic Orthodox Christian monastery, is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The attack marks one of the deadliest in recent weeks, with casualties reported across multiple regions. Emergency services continue to search for survivors amidst the rubble.
