A woman in her 50s has been found dead inside a property in Catford, Lewisham. Police were called to an address on Catford Hill at approximately 11:35 AM on Monday, June 9, following concerns for the woman's welfare.
Police Investigation Underway
Officers attended the scene and discovered the woman deceased. Efforts are currently underway to locate and inform her next of kin. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place in due course. A police cordon remains in place while enquiries continue.
No arrests have been made at this stage. Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Anyone who can assist is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 3053/8JUN. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Unrelated Incident in Lewisham
In a separate, unrelated incident elsewhere in Lewisham, a 41-year-old father, Taiwo Ekerin, has been named as the man who died after suffering a fatal head injury during an altercation outside Alpha Lounge on Lewisham High Street in the early hours of May 24. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries, prompting a Metropolitan Police murder investigation.
Taiwo's family have paid tribute to him as a devoted father, son, brother, uncle and friend, remembered for his kindness, warmth and sense of humour. Detectives are appealing for witnesses and anyone with CCTV, mobile phone or dash-cam footage from the scene to come forward as they work to identify those responsible.
