West London Man Sentenced for Shopping Centre Harassment

A 66-year-old man from West London has been jailed after subjecting two teenage girls to a torrent of sexual comments in a busy shopping centre. Kamikar Brar, of Sutherland Road in Ealing, targeted the youngsters while drunk in the Harlequin shopping centre in Watford on May 3.

Disturbing Encounter on Shopping Centre Stairwell

The court heard how Brar initially approached the girls under the false pretence of needing directions to the bathroom. However, he quickly launched into a series of inappropriate and sexual questions, making both victims feel extremely uncomfortable. The distressing interaction only paused when a member of the public intervened, telling Brar to leave the teenagers alone.

Despite briefly walking away, Brar later returned to continue his lewd behaviour, demonstrating a determined pattern of harassment. His persistent actions caught the attention of another bystander, who promptly alerted the shopping centre's security team. Police were called to the scene and arrested Brar immediately.

Legal Consequences and Police Statement

Brar subsequently pleaded guilty to one count of engaging in sexual communication with a child. During his appearance at St Albans Magistrates' Court on November 13, he was handed a five-month prison sentence.

The conviction means Brar's name will remain on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years. Following his release from prison, he will be managed by officers from Hertfordshire Constabulary's Public Protection Unit, who will conduct regular risk assessments.

Detective Constable Clare Lapenna of Hertfordshire Police commented: "We are pleased to have brought this case to a conclusion for the young victim, who was simply enjoying a shopping trip with her friend when she was targeted by Brar. She has shown great resilience throughout the investigation and court case."

DC Lapenna added: "In Hertfordshire, we take a zero-tolerance approach to sexual offences and we will always do everything in our power to bring perpetrators to justice."

In October, prior to his sentencing, Brar had been subject to bail conditions that prohibited him from entering Watford for any reason.
