Teenager critically injured in Birmingham shooting
A 16-year-old boy is in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after being shot in Birmingham, according to West Midlands Police. The incident occurred on Bowyer Road, near St Saviours Road, shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Officers were called to the scene and found the teenager with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Police investigation underway
West Midlands Police have launched an investigation into the shooting. The force stated that although the incident happened near a mosque, they do not believe at this stage that it is connected to the place of worship. In a statement, police said: 'Our investigation is at an early stage, and officers remain at the scene carrying out forensic and CCTV enquiries, and speaking to people in the area. We understand this is extremely worrying for people in the area, and local officers will be remaining there to speak to anyone with concerns.'
