Romford Teenager Faces Murder Charge in Woolwich Shooting of 14-Year-Old
A 16-year-old boy from Romford has been formally charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Eghosa Ogbebor in Woolwich. The accused, who cannot be named due to legal restrictions, is alleged to have killed the talented schoolboy on Thursday, April 2.
Police Response and Initial Investigation
Emergency services were called to Lord Warwick Street at 3:40 pm, where they discovered Eghosa with severe gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Metropolitan Police, the victim had been involved in a confrontation with other males on nearby Kingsman Street just minutes before the shooting occurred.
The 16-year-old suspect was initially detained on suspicion of murder on April 4 but was subsequently released on bail. He was re-arrested and formally charged a week later, with his first court appearance scheduled at Thames Magistrates' Court. A second 16-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody.

Remembering Eghosa Ogbebor
Relatives have revealed that Eghosa left his home on the day of his death to film a music video with friends. Speaking from the family home in Abbey Wood, approximately a mile from the crime scene, his aunt described him as a vibrant and beloved teenager.
"He was so fun, playful and full of life," she said. "He loved his family and had so many friends he was very popular. He loved music he was so talented and lived for it. On the day he was shot, he had gone out to film a video with his friends. He never came back. His mother is broken. He was so young, he had his whole life ahead of him. He was so young, just a boy."
Eghosa's family is receiving support from specialist officers at the Metropolitan Police throughout the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information or footage related to the incident to come forward.
