Robber and Alleged Drill Rapper Escapes from West London Hospital Custody

Daniel Boakye, a 21-year-old convicted robber and alleged drill rapper, is currently on the run after escaping from custody at a west London hospital. The incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, February 10, while Boakye was under the care of prison staff from HMP Feltham.

Urgent Manhunt Underway

The Metropolitan Police were notified by the Prison Service shortly after 3:30 AM on Tuesday that a prisoner had escaped from hospital custody. A Met spokesperson confirmed that officers are conducting urgent enquiries to locate Boakye and return him to custody, stating that the investigation is proceeding "at pace" but declining to provide further details at this time.

A Prison Service spokesperson added: "We are urgently working with the Metropolitan Police to recapture this prisoner and investigating how he was able to escape from hospital."

Criminal History and Conviction

Boakye, formerly of Alma Road in Enfield, was sentenced to six years and five months in prison in July 2023 for conspiracy to commit robbery and an additional robbery offence. According to reports, he is also alleged to be involved in drill rap music.

Between June 2021 and January 2022, Boakye participated with three other teenagers in a series of robberies and attempted robberies across London and Essex. The group, armed with knives, forced victims to hand over their mobile phones and provide passcodes to unlock them.

Sophisticated Financial Crimes

The criminal operation extended beyond physical robberies into sophisticated financial crimes. After obtaining victims' phones, the group transferred cryptocurrency worth more than £115,000 into "hot wallets" they controlled. They also used stored bank details to purchase top-up cards, pay for taxi fares, and complete various fraudulent transactions.

Boakye remains at large as of Wednesday, February 11, with authorities intensifying their search efforts across the London area. The escape raises serious questions about security protocols for prisoners receiving medical treatment outside correctional facilities.
