Piers Morgan Shut Down After Asking 'Weird' Question on BBC's Question Time
Piers Morgan Shut Down Over 'Weird' BBC Question

Piers Morgan faced sharp criticism after posing what many called a 'weird question' about genitalia during a recent appearance on the BBC's Question Time. The 61-year-old broadcaster engaged in a heated exchange with Rachel Millward, deputy leader of the Green Party, over trans rights.

The Heated Exchange

During the debate, Morgan asked Millward directly: 'Do you think women have penises?' Without hesitation, Millward replied, 'Do you know what, Piers? I think you have a unique, strange obsession with people’s genitalia.' Morgan attempted to interrupt, shouting, 'It’s a pretty straightforward question.' Millward countered, 'I’m sorry, that’s a weird question,' before adding, 'The answer is the trans community in this country is treated appallingly; this is a vulnerable group of people.'

As the audience applauded, Morgan argued that Millward avoided answering because 'as a woman' she knew the question was 'ridiculous.' Millward retorted, 'I know you’re being ridiculous,' leaving Morgan stammering 'why?' as host Fiona Bruce moved the discussion forward.

Context of the Debate

The exchange stemmed from a discussion about Zack Polanski, a Green Party leader who had previously labeled Morgan 'transphobic'—a claim Morgan denies. The clip of the confrontation has been viewed 1.9 million times and widely shared on social media, with many users praising Millward for her response.

On X (formerly Twitter), user @alexc2003__ wrote: 'I can’t quite describe how satisfying it is to finally get to watch someone say this to Piers Morgan. Absolutely fantastic from Rachel Millward.' @CurtisDaly_ agreed with Millward's observation, noting: 'Rachel says Piers has a weird obsession with genitalia, and he immediately responds by talking about penises. You’re proving her point.'

Another user, @Juanlittle42, was more blunt: 'I don’t get why Piers is allowed in places, such a stupid, rude, dishonest, spineless charlatan.'

Morgan's Response

Morgan later addressed the clip on X, writing: 'Read the comments. Read the room. Do a biology class. Then answer my question.' While some commenters agreed with him, others pointed out that his response further validated Millward's critique. @robbieessex28 replied: 'Proving her wrong by doubling down on your obsession and quote tweeting her unprompted, 10 hours after already responding, is a choice.'

@pluginmaybe added: 'Here’s a comment that heard the room applaud her and understands biology. Your weird obsession with people’s genitals, however…'

Even some of Morgan's supporters thought he overstepped. @michael132b wrote: 'Stick to holding reform to account – that bit was great. This bit is trashy and dumb. You’ve got to move on from people’s genitals.' @Jake18367335 added: 'You make so many good points and then immediately invalidate them by constantly talking over people and having awful conversational etiquette.'
