Murder Charge Upgraded After Fatal Willesden Collision

A man originally accused of causing death by dangerous driving now faces a murder charge after a car struck pedestrians in north-west London. Shakaine Dwyer, 29, of Willesden, is charged with the murder of Ruben Nunes, 34, from Peterborough, the Metropolitan Police confirmed.

Details of the Incident and Court Appearances

Police were called to Chapel Close in Willesden at 12.44pm on December 3 following reports of a collision between a car and pedestrians. Mr Nunes was pronounced dead at the scene. Dwyer was initially charged with causing death by dangerous driving on December 7. The charge was elevated to murder on Monday, December 30th.

In a separate but related development, Gregory Ejiofor, 31, of Milton Keynes, has appeared in court. He was charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Ejiofor appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on December 9 and is next scheduled to appear at Southwark Crown Court on January 6.

The family of Ruben Nunes are being supported by specialist officers. In a heartfelt tribute, they described him as a devoted family man. "Ruben was a family man – a son, a brother, an uncle, a father and a partner," they said.

"He was true to his friends and cherished the people around him. He loved football and was a big Liverpool fan. Ruben had a light within him – he brightened the lives of everyone he touched. He was deeply loved by all who knew him and he will always be remembered as a truly blessed soul."
