A man from St Helens has been formally charged with murder following the tragic discovery of a woman's body in the Merseyside area earlier this year.
Discovery of the Body
The body of Delia McInerney, aged 64, was found at an address on Gerards Court, Hawes Avenue, in the Clinkham Wood area of St Helens. The discovery was made on the 8th of January, prompting an immediate investigation by local authorities.
Charges Laid Against Suspect
Merseyside Police have confirmed that George Christopher Gordon, a 65-year-old resident of the same address on Gerards Court, has been charged with murder in connection with this case. In addition to the murder charge, Gordon faces three separate counts of fraud by false representation, which contravene Section 2 of the Fraud Act 2006, as well as a charge of theft.
The police have stated that the family of Ms McInerney have been informed of these developments and are currently receiving support from specialist officers during this difficult time.
