A man has been taken into custody in Florida concerning the alleged murder and kidnapping of a British woman, bringing a tragic international case closer to resolution.
Discovery and International Investigation
Investigators in the United States confirmed that the body of the unnamed British woman was discovered last month in the town of Marion Oaks in central Florida. Following analysis, the remains were positively identified, confirming both her identity and that her death was a homicide.
The victim had been scheduled to return to the United Kingdom on 13 October but failed to board her flight. This prompted authorities in the UK to request a welfare check through Interpol, which then involved the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
Arrest and Charges Filed
On Monday, 17 November 2025, law enforcement officials apprehended Dwain Hall, 53, of Ocala, Florida. He now faces serious charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.
The arrest was a joint operation conducted by FDLE agents and detectives from the Marion County Sheriff's Office, demonstrating a coordinated effort across agencies.
A Commitment to Justice
FDLE Commissioner Mark Glass issued a statement praising the swift and determined work of his agents. He emphasised that the team worked to "ensure justice was served and closure was brought to the victim's family."
Commissioner Glass sent a strong message, stating, "This type of violent crime and disregard for human life will not be tolerated in our state - those who commit such heinous crimes will be held fully accountable."
The investigation saw collaboration from multiple agencies, both domestic and international, including the FBI and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary in the UK.
