London's Most and Least Dangerous Boroughs Revealed

An interactive map has revealed London's most dangerous and safest boroughs, based on the latest Home Office crime statistics. The data shows recorded crime continuing to decline across England and Wales, with non-fraud offences falling by 2 per cent in 2025 compared to the previous year.

Crime Trends Across England and Wales

Significant reductions were observed in several crime categories, including an 11 per cent drop in burglary, an 8 per cent decline in theft, and a 6 per cent decrease in homicide. However, some offences increased: sexual offences rose by 5 per cent, weapons possession by 6 per cent, and drug offences by 18 per cent. These statistics highlight that certain areas pose considerably greater risks to residents than others.

London's Most Dangerous Boroughs

Camden has emerged as London's most crime-affected borough, with police recording 38,954 non-fraud crimes in the past year. This equates to a crime rate of 180 offences per 1,000 residents, significantly exceeding rates elsewhere in London and across England and Wales. Despite a 9 per cent reduction in crime within Camden over the last year, the figure remains high.

Kensington and Chelsea recorded the second highest rate of 150 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants, despite a 6 per cent fall. Islington in North London registered the highest rate beyond Central London at 134 per 1,000 residents, followed by Southwark in South London at 122.

Westminster is excluded from the ranking due to its distorted crime rate of 380 offences per 1,000 residents, more than double that of any other area. This is attributed to a comparatively small resident population combined with vast numbers of tourists.

London's Safest Boroughs

In contrast, Richmond upon Thames boasts the lowest crime rate in London, with just 58 crimes per 1,000 residents. It is closely followed by Harrow at 59 per 1,000 residents, and Sutton at 60. These boroughs offer residents a significantly lower risk of crime.
